Decorate your walls with the Petergate, York British Rail Poster Mounted Print, produced for British Railways (BR) to promote rail travel to the city of York in Yorkshire. The poster shows a street lined with shops and houses with York Minster visible in the background.
The artwork was created by Claude Buckle (1905-1973), who originally trained as an architect, but later turned to pictorial art. He painted in both oil and watercolour and was a prolific poster artist for Great Western Railway (GWR) and BR. Much of his original poster artwork is held at the National Railway Museum.
The mounted York print measures 27.94 cm x 35.56 cm (11 x 14 inches).
Images are licensed from the popular range of vintage posters from the National Railway Museum.
